FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Finding a photographer can be difficult. There’s so many variables involved – Style & Quality, Experience & Knowledge, Personality & Approach, Value & Price. It’s a big investment and I want you to feel reassured about who and what you’re investing in. I take this shit seriously.

Below is a list of answers to my frequently asked questions. It’s a lot to read, but it’s important to know what you’re getting. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

I photograph your wedding day as it unfolds. I focus on candid-in-the-moment shots instead of staged ones. For portraits, instead of focusing on poses, I photograph the genuine connection between you both.

IS YOUR STYLE FOR JUST ANYONE?

No. I’ve found that people either really dig my work and personal approach or they don’t at all. And that’s okay. I’m big on having a connection with my couples. Our initial meet up before booking usually lasts a minimum of 2 hours because we’re going to get to know each other. I’m big on connection, communication, and planning.

WHAT KIND OF WEDDINGS DO YOU ENJOY SHOOTING?

Non-traditional ones for sure. Or at least ones with less traditional things involved. I enjoy weddings of all shapes and sizes: tiny living room or backyard ceremonies, adventurous park elopements, or just about any intimate laid back wedding. I especially love outdoor weddings!

DO YOU SHOOT WEDDINGS IN CHURCHES?

I don’t. To be completely honest, they bore me. They just aren’t my thing. If you’re getting married in a church, you’ll benefit from finding a photographer who specializes in that type of a wedding and gets excited about it as well.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

My hometown is San Antonio, but my family and I now live in Waco, TX. My fiancée is pursuing her Ph.D. at Baylor University.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL?

Because moving to Waco was for my fiancée and not a business choice, I’m still continuing to service San Antonio as well as the entire state of Texas without travel fees for both weddings and couple sessions. For weddings outside of Texas, I have affordable travel rates.

DO YOU MEET WITH COUPLES BEFORE BOOKING?

Absolutely. And honestly, it’s a must for me. I will not book anyone without meeting you both first. It’s important that we all mesh and vibe together. If you want more of a feel for my personality before we meet, I’m usually on Snapchat and Instagram Stories. After you book me, I’ll Facebook stalk you so that I can add you to my personal Facebook page. I enjoy keeping in touch with everyone through social media and email.

IF YOU LIVE IN WACO, HOW WILL WE MEET?

Unless you wanna make a trip to Waco (which some couples have offered), I hold my meetings via Skype or FaceTime because it’s the next best thing to meeting in person. Once we meet up for your session and/or wedding, that’s when we’ll finally hug and drink our first beer together!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING WEDDINGS?

I’m been a full-time wedding photographer since August 2012. I was also doing weddings on the side before that. Altogether I have about 7+ years of experience.

HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU SHOOT PER YEAR?

I shoot about 25 weddings per year give or take. This ensures I’m able to focus on every couple while still keeping a healthy work/life balance. Spring and Fall book up fast, so it’s never too late to inquire about your wedding date.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yep. For both my gear and liability on location. I can provide proof if your venue needs it.

DO YOU USE BACKUPS?

Yep. I bring backup gear and lenses and also backup files immediately after the wedding.

WE’RE AWKWARD AND NOT PHOTOGENIC. IS THAT OKAY?

Every couple tells me that. You’re not alone. Lol. I get to know everyone on a personal level because it helps put you at ease when you’re in front of the camera. It’s much different when you’re comfortable with the person who’s photographing you than some stranger working as hired help.

DO YOU BRING A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

I photograph 90% of my weddings by myself and feel totally confident doing so. If I feel I’ll need one for your wedding or you would like one, we can totally add one to your package. I only hire other professionals that I know and trust.

DO YOU DO GROUP PHOTOS?

Absolutely. I know how important they are to your parents. However, I do a maximum of 4-6 formal family photos. I do this so that the number of photo combinations don’t get out of hand and your day runs smoothly. I still will do plenty informal group photos throughout the night.

WHO DOES ALL YOUR EDITING?

I do. Unlike some photographers, I do everything in-house. I tweak every photo one at a time to keep my custom signature style strong and consistent.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET OUR PHOTOS?

For weddings, I always say 1-3 months. It all depends on if it’s a busy season for me. However, I’ve never hit a 2 month mark ever. I have an efficient process and way of shooting, so my turnaround time is usually within 3-4 weeks. Sometimes, even less than that. If you read some of the reviews my past couples have left, they mention how fast they got their photos.

DO WE GET ALL THE PHOTOS?

Absolutely. The only photos I don’t deliver are mid-blinking eyes, non-artistic blurry shots, or unflattering photos that I’m sure you won’t have any desire to print/have. On average, I deliver 400 – 600 photos. For portrait sessions, it’s in the 50 – 80 range. However, there’s no limit to the number of images that you’ll receive for your wedding. It all depends on how long I’m hired for and how much action is going on.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE GET?

For weddings, there’s no limit to the number of images that you’ll receive. On average, it’s in the 400 – 600 range. For portrait sessions, it’s in the 50 – 80 range.

HOW WILL WE AND OUR GUESTS SEE THE PHOTOS?

You’ll get your own personal online gallery and print shop for 1 year. You can view the photos, share them, download them, and order prints. It’s also mobile friendly, so you can text the link to someone and they can quickly and easily pull it up on their phone.

CAN WE DOWNLOAD OUR PHOTOS?

Absolutely. I’ll send you a PIN number that will allow you to download a zip file of all your photos in full resolution without watermarks.

CAN WE PRINT THE PHOTOS?

Absolutely. A print release is built into your contract, so you can get prints anywhere. To guarantee prints that look their best, you can order some from my professional lab straight through your gallery.

CAN WE SEE A FULL GALLERY?

Absolutely. It’s important to get an idea of what your wedding will look like. When you inquire, I’ll send you some to check out.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?

Portrait sessions start at $500 and weddings start at $2100. On average, my couples spend around $3000 or more. To get instant access to my complete prices and learn about everything I offer, contact me through my website.

DO YOU OFFER PHOTO ALBUMS?

I do. I offer high quality fine art photo albums in 2 different sizes. Most couples purchase albums after the wedding to help save money during the wedding planning process.

IS IT TRUE YOU DONATE 5% OF OUR PACKAGE PRICE?

Absolutely. When you book me, we also support some amazing things together. I donate 5% of what you pay for your wedding photography package to your choice of one of the following organizations: American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, Southern Poverty Law Center, RAINN, or the Transgender Law Center.

WHAT’S REQUIRED TO BOOK?

All that’s required is a $500 non-refundable retainer and a signed contact to reserve your wedding date. Your remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding date. You can also make monthly payments if that’s easier for you.

HOW DO WE BOOK?

First, get in contact with me so that I can learn more about you both and so that we can set up a time to chat on Skype or FaceTime. Afterwards, I’ll send you a link where you can book. Everything is easily and securely done online.
