Engagement photos are a bit weird if you think about it. My approach to them is a bit different though, which is why I call them a couple’s session. It’s not about being a photo shoot. It’s about the two of you hanging out and spending time with each other. That simple.
One of the most common things I come across when planning out a session, is figuring out where to go. Claire and Trey had no idea where to go. After we dug a bit deeper, we decided to go to a bar that they like to go to in Fredricksburg, TX. I felt it fit their personalities and their story. It’s much better than just choosing some random location that would look pretty. Engagement photos aren’t about the location. It’s about the couple and their connection. It’s been one hell of a time hanging out and talking with them on video chats. So meeting up with them in person was even more of a blast. We hugged, we had a few beers, and mostly laughed our asses off.
For the photographers interested, I did the entire session with my Fuji X-Pro 2 with a 23mm f/1.4 lens and edited with my very own presets.
