Stoked to share Laura & Mateo’s Austin engagement photography session! Their love story is incredible. They’ve been together for over 6 years, but their story begins before that at Boerne Middle School North. Mateo first had a crush on Laura when they were in 9th grade. When the teacher wasn’t looking, they would pass notes back and forth in Spanish class. On too many nights in high school, they stayed up well into the night chatting on AIM and talking on the phone. In 2007, after Mateo returned home from his gap-year in Brazil and Laura moved back to Boerne from College Station, their long-running friendship finally become something more.
Over the next 4 years, Mateo and Laura dated long-distance. First, Mateo went to school in New Orleans while Laura was at school in San Antonio. Then, Mateo went to Chile for his semester abroad. 4,658 miles of long-distance. But in 2009, Mateo moved back to Texas to continue school at UT-Austin while Laura finished her degree close by at UTSA. Once she graduated from UTSA, Laura decided to work on her Masters degree in Public Health at the medical center in Houston. In 2011, Laura moved to Austin and the two were finally living in the same wonderful city that they still call home. In Austin, they enjoy gardening, riding their matching Bianchi bikes, playing with their cats, rooting for the Spurs, eating breakfast tacos, and hosting friends for dinner parties.
