Anthony Gauna Photography is a San Antonio wedding and portrait photographer for laid-back couples wanting artistic, documentary photos.

This past weekend, I began reading “What’s You This past weekend, I began reading “What’s Your Dream” by @simonsquibb. His videos had popped into my IG algorithm and I found them heart-warming. After realizing he put out a book on the exact question he’s been asking people in his videos, I was curious to read it.

Admittedly, I had no idea if the book was going to resonate with me. However, I’m halfway done with the book and it already sparked something inside me. It made me think back to the dreams I had as a kid. I had a different dream back then, but currently, my dream is to help people in the ways I can. I had lost track of that this year.

So I decided, that it was time to commit myself back to my YouTube channel that I started last year and also had sort of put on hold a few months ago.

I decided that there’s no excuse not to create videos other than when I literally lack the time in my day-to-day life. In those times, I’m not allowed to feel angry or guilty. It is what it is and once time opens back up, I go back to helping people through creating videos on my channel. That’s what I’ve decided.

Today, I recorded a new video that I can’t wait to put out there. And having put out a video last week after a few months and beginning to read this book, it’s sparked something inside me again that I needed. I’m tired of feeling like I don’t have time or that people don’t like me or that maybe I’m too old or... this list goes on. I’m going to keep chipping away. I have something to prove. Not to others, but to myself.
Thank you Jennifer and Brenna for sharing your exp Thank you Jennifer and Brenna for sharing your experience of having me photograph your wedding and be there for y’all throughout the entire process. I put a lot of care, time, and attention into everyone I work with. I truly appreciate the time you took to leave such a thorough and personal Google review. Can’t wait to work with y’all again in the future. ❤️

Before I picked up a camera in 2010, I was obsesse Before I picked up a camera in 2010, I was obsessed with seeing 11/11.

I saw it everywhere, all the time. Throughout the years after picking up a camera and getting into wedding photography, I stopped seeing 11/11. Truthfully, I stopped thinking about it and no longer seeked the signs of happiness that it brought me. I became numb, I think.

But throughout the past few months year, I’ve been seeing 11/11 more and more. It’s re-ignited my love for seeing it in my day to day life and finding the signs of what life is telling me. Because, in the beginning, I felt something deep in my soul every time I saw 11/11. Lately, I’ve been feeling that same feeling.

This entire year, my most played band has been Mini Trees. So, when I saw they were coming to San Antonio and saw the date, 11/11, I immediately got a ticket and reached out to the band about getting permission to take photos. I felt it was a sign to go back to my roots. I’m known as a wedding photographer, but I literally learned how to use a camera while in the pits at local shows. And I’ve been waiting for signs to go back to my roots.

This morning, I woke up to some very exciting/hopeful dms from someone about work oppurtunities. Then, throughout the day, I had such positive conversations with a few different people. And this evening...

I got to see, listen to, photograph Mini Trees.

When I arrived home after the show tonight, the time was 11:11. And shit... that includes my short akward conversations with Zach and Lexi. (I’m so awkward and I felt embarrassed walking back to my car. Lol.)

But I’m stoked about the photos. I went to my heart, my roots, and photographed just black and white. I knew it’s what others there wouldn’t be doing. Plus, it being 11/11, I knew to just follow my creative heart.

Here’s my favorites so far.
I finally decided to grow the hell up and start pu I finally decided to grow the hell up and start putting together my own (real) personal website dedicated to my skills, my story, what I’ve made, what I’m currently making, etc. I’ll bring back the MySpace replica at some point. Lol.

I’ve been so all over place throughout my entire life and have created many different things. I’ve just always felt I should have a just one thing before I commit to putting it all on the web on one site. But I guess up until now, that’s been my photography.

So now, I’m finally trying to gather every bit of what I’ve created or been a part of creating and put it on my own personal website without all the emo nostalgia. Just a touch though.

Digging around through hard drives has been fun so far. I still have a long way to go before it’s done, but can’t wait to have everything all in one place: music, design, photos, and videos.

This is an old design from about circa 2008-2010.

I guess this is growing up?

It’s been a months since I’ve made any YouTube It’s been a months since I’ve made any YouTube videos. I had a few on hold, but wound up deleting them since they felt irrelevant. What keeps pulling at me is the feeling that I want to have more conversations with neurodivergent folks. I really should pursue finding people winding to sit down for a chat on YouTube. But in the meantime, I’m trying to re-connect with myself and what I can share that will help others.

Recently, I did some video recording at home. I wanted to test out my video skills and try out software updates. Was nothing to put out as an actual video. But midway through takes, I quickly switched my camera to photo mode to document this point in my life (this photo).

I feel proud of where I’m headed. It’s literally a “Jesus take the wheel” sort of time for me right now. And that’s all I can say. A huge thing I keep thinking about is how all the “failures” in my life were blessings in disguise.

I’ve become completely obsessed with tracking back all the good things in life to all of what I thought were bad things at the time. I’m now trusting the process. I also feel more of myself than I have in years. Sounds silly, but growing my hair out felt so freeing. And now I’m trying to grow my beard and mustache. Just as a means of reminding myself that it doesn’t matter that I don’t fit what I feel I should be fitting into. And that’s a deeper discussion for years down the line. It’s only the beginning for me.

I have my last 2 weddings to photograph this year along with some family sessions. My goodness... I’m feeling old. Going to photograph my best friend’s first daughter’s Quince and other friend’s first son’s graduation from college?? What the hell? Where has time gone? But it hits so close to my heart. I love the journey of life. I love friends. I love... art. I love expression. I love connection. And I can’t wait to see where life keeps leading me. Cause to be honest, I’ve accepted to not worry, but just feel grateful and excited.
For years, I’ve only done family sessions for my For years, I’ve only done family sessions for my wedding clients, but I’m finally adding family work to my website.

If you’re thinking holiday cards or end‑of‑year family photos, now’s the time to reach out and get on the calendar. DM me or hit the link in bio to snag a spot.
