Astrid’s Fine Art Boudoir

Boudoir

One thing I don’t really do is come up with ideas or concepts for shoots. In the back of my mind, I know I’m going to want to create something with Earthy tones that are soft and dreamy. But when it comes to planning out specific shot lists or anything like that, I don’t think I’m that creative honestly.

When it came to this session with Astrid, I got in my head a little bit. I’ve been really wanting to push myself creatively this year. At the start of every shoot this year, I’ve been telling myself to try and create something that’s one percent better than the previous shoot. I also want to try and do something different I don’t normally do or experiment and play more.

As with any boudoir session, we picked out the outfits and let that be the guide for the session. I’ll be honest, before taking any pictures, I was doubting myself. Feeling like I was going to fail at trying to do one percent better.

And then holy shit… once I got into my flow, my doubts went away and I trusted myself. The ideas flowed.

I feel like I created my best work yet.

When I was looking through the photos as they were uploading to my computer, I thought to myself that I’m not really an artist. The people I photograph are the art. I just photograph how I see them. How I see, feel, and experience life shapes the photos. Not concepts. I feel I did more than one percent better with this set and now I know not to doubt myself again.
